Monday 19th 2pm – Exploring the Great Parchment Book and the Art of Writing in Waterford (FREE)
Take a tour with Rosemary Ryan, Keeper of the Bishop’s Palace of the Medieval Museum and Christchurch Cathedral to discover beautiful examples of medieval calligraphy and the history behind them before settling in to a workshop where the art of writing comes to life. (max. occupancy of 16 people) All materials will be provided.
Tuesday 20th 6pm – A closer Look at Greyfriars’ Lady Chapel and the Viking House (FREE)
Join Donnchadh Ó Ceallacháin, curator at Waterford Treasures for a behind the scenes look at the building of our Viking house and all its features as well as the hidden secrets of its setting, the fourteenth-century Lady Chapel Approx 45 mins
Wednesday 21st 2:30 pm – The Irish Wake Museum – Witness to Six Centuries’ of History (FREE)
Come behind the scenes at the Irish Wake Museum in 3, 4 and 5 Cathedral Square and discover the mysteries and hidden histories of these amazing medieval buildings. Built as an almshouse, once home to one of Waterford’s most famous figures, later tenements in the heart of the Victorian city and now a museum, the walls of the building contain multitudes of secrets just waiting to be discovered. Sunday 25th 2pm – A Walk of Waterford’s Medieval Walls – €5pp
Join our curators for a jaunt around the ruins of Waterford’s city walls in this special Heritage Week walking tour. Discover what remains of our walls along with the six towers till standing and the secret histories they hold. Moderate walking route, approx. 2 hours
